BREATH, CORE & THE PELVIC FLOOR with Leslie Richards

Join Leslie Richards, registered physio therapist and yoga teacher, as she talks “all about the pelvis” and how to connection our Breath, Core & Pelvic Floor. 

Disfunctional pelvic muscles can cause many different physical symptoms from low back, pelvis and hip pain, incontinence
, constipation, painful intercourse and pelvic organ prolapse. All these symptoms can be improved with gentle exercise. Although pelvic floor symptoms are very common, they should not be perceived as ‘normal’. 

Discussions will cover:
The anatomy of the pelvis and pelvic floor muscles (PFM), their connection with the core and their importance in posture and functional movement;

PFM dysfunction, related symptoms and how we can improve PFM function and eliminate or decrease our symptoms;

How the core muscles, including the pelvic floor, abdominals, diaphragm and back extensors, can work together for effective support of the pelvis and spine and optimal pressure management within our body;

How our mental and emotional health can have an impact on our PFM’s and the connection of the pelvic floor with the central nervous system.

The session will include an educational discussion followed by some gentle movement and breath practice to integrate what we have learned and how to build a stronger connection with our pelvic floor muscles. We will close off our time together with tea and an opportunity for discussion.
